If You Suspect Abuse or Neglect?
If you are concerned about possible animal abuse or neglect, please contact the Person County Animal Shelter at (336) 597-1741 or send us an email.
Evidence is key. If the abuse or neglect is not obvious to the eyes of an animal control officer, it is up to you to provide the evidence. Write a concise, factual statement detailing what you observed, giving dates and approximate times. If you can, photograph the situation and date your photographs. Also, try to obtain short, factual statements from other witnesses. More is better. All cases will be investigated, so do not hesitate to report it.
Note: To promote animal welfare, APS supports and stands in agreement with the laws and ordinances governing animal control, especially the Person County statutes against Cruelty, Abuse and Neglect of all animals.
While we are not associated financially with the Person County Animal Shelter and Person County Animal Control, we work with their employees in reporting and following up on animal welfare reports.
